Ultramediterrània 2026 is an epic mountain ultramarathon held in southeastern Spain, taking runners on an unforgettable journey through the raw and rugged landscapes of the Mediterranean interior. With four race formats – ranging from a fast-paced 5 km vertical climb to the extreme 162 km ultramarathon – the event offers challenges for trail runners of all experience levels.
Passing through remote mountain villages and scenic trails across the provinces of Alicante and Valencia, the race combines:
- technical and demanding terrain;
- rich cultural heritage of the region;
- the natural beauty of the Mediterranean mountains.
Ultramediterrània is a true celebration of endurance set in one of Spain’s most striking and diverse landscapes.
Ultramediterrània 2026 will gather 1,600 runners from around the world
The Alicante Provincial Council supports this mountain ultramarathon, which runs through the comarcas of L’Alcoià, El Comtat, Marina Baixa, and Vall d’Albaida.
A total of 1,600 runners from all over the world will take part in the event, including renowned athletes such as Noor Van der Veen, María Fuentes, Jan Ballbé, and Pau Pascual. The city of Alcoy will serve as the central hub for the event.
The race features eight categories depending on distance and course difficulty. The route will also pass through other towns in the Alicante province: Banyeres de Mariola, Penàguila, Bensau, Quatretondeta, Planes, Muro, Millena, Gorga, Cocentaina, Beniarrés, Alcoleja, Agres, and Benifallim.
In Banyeres de Mariola, there will be a vertical ascent to the La Blasca rock.

- TERRA PRO – 162 km, January 23, 2026 (Friday). An ultra-long-distance race designed for experienced trail runners, featuring highly technical trails and major elevation gain.
- TERRA MAX – 46 km, January 24, 2026 (Saturday). An intense mid-distance race with mountain ridges, forest paths, and spectacular panoramic views.
- SKY – 15 km, January 25, 2026 (Sunday). A short yet technical course for runners seeking high-altitude trail challenges.
- TERRA VERTICAL – 5 km, January 25, 2026 (Sunday). A vertical uphill race ideal for speed-focused trail runners and strength specialists.
- TERRA EXPERT – 24 km, January 25, 2026 (Sunday). A demanding course for experienced runners, combining technical terrain with moderate elevation gain.
